Honey at the Farm

I receive so many questions about our raw honey, that I thought I should take a few minutes to share some responses. We have raw honey, from the bees in our orchards, available for sale in our farm market year round.



Q: What is raw honey?

A: Raw honey is the most original sweet liquid that honeybees produce from the concentrated nectar of flowers. Collected straight from the extractor; it is totally unheated, unpasteurized, unprocessed honey.



Q: Is your honey raw?

A: Absolutely. Our honey is not processed, which means that all of the wonderful benefits still exist! Raw and unfiltered honey and has a high antioxidant level.



Q: Why does your honey crystallize? Has it gone bad?

A: Honey that has not been processed crystallizes when it gets cold. It has not gone bad, it has no expiration date at all!



Q: How should I store raw honey?

A: Honey should be stored in a cool dry place, making sure that the container cap is on tight since honey tends to absorb moisture from the environment. Honey should not be stored in the refrigerator, since that speeds the crystallization process. Always scoop honey from jars using a dry spoon, any introduction of water content into the jars should be avoided.
